Don’t you just love road trips? Just the idea of taking a break from the monotony of doing the same old thing for years is just invigorating. Going out on a road trip is cathartic, in some way. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom who handles everything in the house from the cooking, cleaning, washing and taking care of the kids 24/7 or a businessman who manages and supervises a whole team in a busy office, doing something that is totally different from what you are used to is indeed liberating.

I love vacations but vacations become more meaningful to me when I take my family on a road trip. Sure, a lot of people would probably prefer a solo trip but personally, I get more fulfillment and satisfaction when I share wonderful memories with the ones I love. I rarely get the time off from work given that I am a manager and I play a big role in the company I work for. One single day out of the office and I come back with piles of paper waiting for me. But this year I made a promise to my kids and I want to fulfill that promise once and for all. I made them choose what they want to do during the vacation and much to my surprise; we share the same love for road trips.

So for those who are also planning to go on a road trip with their loved ones, I suggest you check out these 5 places to drive during a family vacation.

1.     Disney World

Young and old, man and woman, girl and boy, everyone loves Disney World. It is a place where you can forget all of your woes and problems. This was our first stop and obviously, the kids suggested it and I don’t mind because I love Disney World. It was a long drive but nonetheless, we were entertained by Capture The Magic. If you haven’t heard of it yet, Capture The Magic is a podcast that talks about Disney news and rumors. They come highly recommended by numerous Disney park goers out there. During the ride en route to Disney, we were all ears listening to the podcast, which we found very fun. We also bought one of their bags they sell which are rated as one of the best Disney World themed backpacks on the market today.

2.     Black Hills

If your kids love history and distinct scenery combined, drive to the Black Hills in South Dakota. Your kids will surely love it there as mine did. And when you travel there, don’t forget to drop by Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and Wall Drug to complete your journey.

3.     Downeast Maine

Downeast Maine holds a resemblance to Rockland and Belfast’s fishing villages. It’s a great place to explore and your family will definitely fall in love with it. The places you’ll on the road are also Instagram-worthy and mind you, you don’t even need filters to make it look pretty because the place looks gorgeous as it is.

4.     Blue Ridge Parkway

This is going to be a four hundred sixty-nine drive connecting two famous national parks – The Great Smoky Mountains and Shenandoah. This is by far the most populated road controlled by the United States National Parks System. It’s an excellent place to take your kids and your family on a road trip.

5.     Pacific Coast Highway

This is a long drive but I am pretty sure you wouldn’t mind, as you will be passing by the opulent Pacific coastline. Besides, the attractions along the way won’t bore you including San Simeon, Malibu, Monterey, Big Sur, The Golden Gate and many more.

On your next road trip, whenever that will be, be sure to include these destinations to make your vacation worthwhile.
